Botox
Botox is the world’s most popular cosmetic injectable that relaxes muscles to treat dynamic wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles, such as frown lines and crow’s feet, appear when the overuse of specific facial muscles deepens the associated wrinkles, making them appear prominent even when your face is at rest. Botox will inhibit muscle contraction by blocking the nerve signals that cause muscles to contract.
Dysport
Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) is a cosmetic injectable that temporarily suppresses moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, also known as glabellar lines, in patients less than 65 years of age. Dysport is a neuromodulator, a type of cosmetic injectable that temporarily reduces the appearance of dynamic wrinkles caused overuse of facial muscles.
Both are made with naturally-occurring proteins that work to soften stiff muscles.
Results usually last for 3 to 4 months, which is approximately the time required for your body to metabolize the neurotoxin protein.
PREPARATION
Temporarily discontinue non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (ibuprofen, naproxen), blood-thinning medications, vitamin E, herbal supplements, etc., a few days before the treatment if cleared by your medical provider.
Stop drinking and smoking a day or two before the treatment..
PROCEDURE
Our nurse practitioners will examine your facial skin, discuss your goals, and review your health history to discuss the ideal Botox or Dysport dosage for you.
Before the treatment, your facial skin will be cleaned with alcohol.
Low doses of Botox or Dysport will be injected right below the skin with very small needles.
Temporary injection site redness and some swelling is common and usually goes away within the hour. A tinted SPF can be used to help camouflage the area.
You can start to see results within 3–5 days and fully around 14 days. Treatments can last 3-4 months.
